Who We Are & How to Contact Us
Szerensejáték is an independent finance comparison website operated by Szerensejáték Zrt, a company registered at Csalogány utca 30-32, 1015 Budapest, Hungary. We help people in the United Kingdom compare financial products such as credit cards, current accounts, personal loans and savings accounts. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data when you use szerensejatek.com.
For any question about this policy or the way we handle your information, you can email us at hello@szerensejatek.com or use our Contact page. As we process the personal data of individuals in the UK, we act as a data controller under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What Data We Collect
We collect only the information we need to run the comparison service and improve your experience. The categories of personal data we may collect include the following:
- Contact details you give us, such as your email address when you subscribe to updates or send an enquiry.
- Technical data, including your IP address, browser type, device information and operating system.
- Usage data, such as the pages you view, the products you compare and the links you click.
- Cookie and tracking data collected through your browser, as described in our Cookie Policy.
How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data to deliver and maintain our comparison tools, to respond to your enquiries, to send you the updates you have asked for, and to measure how the site is used so we can make it better. We also use data to detect and prevent fraud, to keep the website secure and to comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone. Where we work with affiliate partners, we share only what is necessary to attribute a referral, and this is explained further below.
Our Lawful Bases (UK GDPR)
Under the UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis before processing your personal data. Depending on the activity, we rely on the following bases:
- Consent — for sending marketing emails and for setting non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for analysing site usage, securing our services and improving our product comparisons, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation — for keeping records we are required to retain and responding to lawful requests.
Partners & Third-Party Services
We earn commission when a visitor follows an affiliate link and takes out a product with one of our partners. To make this work, our partners may set their own cookies or receive a reference identifying that the referral came from our site. We may also use third-party analytics providers to understand aggregate traffic patterns.
These partners and providers act as separate controllers or processors for the data they receive, and their own privacy notices apply to that processing. We only work with organisations that offer appropriate safeguards for your personal data.
Data Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or to meet legal and accounting requirements. Subscription email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, after which we remove them within a reasonable period.
Technical and usage logs are generally retained for a limited period for security and analytics, and cookie data expires according to the timescales listed in our Cookie Policy.
Data Sharing & International Transfers
We share personal data with service providers who help us operate the site (such as hosting, email delivery and analytics), with affiliate partners for referral attribution, and with authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell your data.
Because our company is based in Hungary and some providers operate outside the UK, your data may be transferred internationally. Where this happens we rely on adequacy regulations or on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your Rights Under UK GDPR
You have a number of rights over your personal data. These include the right to be informed, the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, the right to object, and rights relating to automated decision-making.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@szerensejatek.com. We will respond within one month, and we will not charge a fee in most cases.
Marketing & Unsubscribe
If you subscribe to our updates, we will send you occasional emails about product comparisons, offers and news relevant to UK finance. We send these only on the basis of your consent, and we never share your email address with advertisers for their own marketing.
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link in any email we send, or by emailing hello@szerensejatek.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect messages we sent before you opted out.
Children
Our services are intended only for adults aged 18 or over. The financial products we compare are available exclusively to adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at hello@szerensejatek.com and we will delete the information promptly.
Data Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. These measures include encryption in transit, access controls, and regular reviews of our systems and suppliers.
No online service can be completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your data we cannot guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password anywhere you create an account online.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, please contact us first at hello@szerensejatek.com so we can try to resolve it. We take every complaint seriously and will investigate promptly.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or by calling their helpline. We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns before you approach the ICO.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our partners or the law. When we make significant changes, we will update the review date shown at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continuing to use szerensejatek.com after an update means you accept the revised policy. This policy should be read alongside our Terms and Cookie Policy.
